Dear MoveOn member,

Jamie Leigh Jones was a 20-year-old woman working in Iraq for a subsidiary of Halliburton when she was drugged and brutally gang-raped by several co-workers.

The next day, Halliburton told her that if she left Iraq to get medical treatment, she could lose her job.¹

Jamie's story gets even more horrific: For the last two years, she's been asking the US government to hold the perpetrators accountable. But the men who raped her may never be brought to justice because Halliburton and other contractors in Iraq aren't subject to US or Iraqi laws. They can't be tried for a crime in any court.²

This is one of the most disturbing stories we have come across in a while. We're calling on Congress to investigate Jamie's case, hold those involved accountable, and bring US contractors under the jurisdiction of US law so this can't happen again. If hundreds of thousands of us speak out against this outrageous story, we can force Congress to take action.

When you get an email from us, it doesn't usually include a graphic description of a brutal attack. But when we heard this story, we knew we had to do something about it.

Here's how Jamie described what happened after the attack:

I awoke the next morning in the barracks to find my naked body battered and bruised. I was still groggy from whatever had been put in my drink. I was bleeding... After getting to the clinic and having a rape kit performed...I was locked in a container with no food, no way to call my parents, and was placed under armed guard by Halliburton.³

Jamie's attackers aren't the only ones exploiting a legal loophole to get away with their violent crimes. Another female employee of Halliburton says she was raped by her co-workers in Iraq.⁴ Employees of Blackwater, another private contracting firm in Iraq, were accused of killing innocent Iraqi civilians, and that incident turned into an international scandal. Worst of all, they may never be punished.⁵

Private contractors in Iraq are making massive amounts of money, operating above the law and are accountable to no one. This has to stop.

Congress needs to act now to bring these contractors under the rule of law. If they don't, nothing will prevent a case like Jamie's from happening again. No man or woman working in Iraq should have to fear that they can be attacked without consequences.

Lisa Lampanelli, easily the funniest female comic we’ve ever heard, went on Howard Stern’s Sirius show Tuesday and blabbed about sexual relations with a young (”in his 20s”) member of the Chicago Bears who (all the quotes are hers):

* has tattoos
* isn’t a starter but isn’t on the practice squad
* is black (”mocha latte”)
* is southern
* at some point this season, he had an injured ankle

Lampanelli is a 46-year-old admittedly overweight white woman. The encounter took place in Philly in October. The unidentified Bears player (she said he was a rookie, and then recanted that; just our opinion, but we think he’s a rookie and she tried to cover it up) tracked her down through her website, and the two set up a rendezvous after she lied and told him she’d be in town. To paraphrase her: “I texted him from the McDonald’s, he ran out of his hotel to my Toyota Camry, we went to a Marriott Courtyard (he paid) and we banged for 45 minutes. He asked me, ‘is this your first NFL dick?’ He had a very bent penis.”

So far, rampant speculation includes: Trumaine McBride or Kevin Payne, or possibly Garrett Wolfe or Josh Gattis. This is something that must be solved today, before it gets buried under the Mitchell Investigation avalanche.

In continuance of beating the hell out of this dead horse, I'd also like to point out something I heard on the Howard Stern show this morning. Lisa Lampanelli, a self proclaimed disgusting, sloppy whore comedian, admitted that she recently slept with a member of the Chicago Bears. She wouldn't name the player, but said that he was young, not a starter, from the south, and has recently been bothered by an ankle injury. I'm sure that someone will figure it out soon. Anyway, Lampanelli states that the Bears player approached her via her website and arranged a hook-up prior to the Chicago-Philly game. Lisa picked him up and he checked them into a Courtyard Marriot where (in true romantic fashion) he admitted that he "has a thang for bangin' older white women." The 46 year old Lampanelli went on to rip on the extreme curvature of a certain part of this guy's anatomy, which is comedy gold. Anyway, good for you Lisa, but its nice to see that the Bears are getting with women that they deserve. Here's a video of Lisa Lampanelli at an improv show... its pretty raunchy stuff, but you've gotta admit she's one classy lady.

The Chicago Bear player is rumored to be either Trumaine McBride or Kevin Payne. Trumaine is pretty dopey looking (as if I expected anything else), but Payne looks like a suave dude who'd do such a thing. Good luck with those "old white bitches," fellahs!

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- On the slaughterhouse floor at Quality Pork Processors Inc. is an area known as the "head table," but not because it is the place of honor. It is where workers cut up pigs' heads and then shoot compressed air into the skulls until the brains come spilling out.

But now the grisly practice has come under suspicion from health authorities.

Over eight months from last December through July, 11 workers at the plant in Austin, Minn. - all of them employed at the head table - developed numbness, tingling or other neurological symptoms, and some scientists suspect inhaled airborne brain matter may have somehow triggered the illnesses.
